Mr. Hu Xi Lin was born in 1948 in Hu Nan province and his ancestral home is located in Yi Yang, China. At an early age, Mr. Hu was passionate about Chinese Martial Arts.
In 1962, Mr. Hu was accepted to the Martial Arts Institute of Shanghai, and was fortunate enough to become a student of Master Ma Han Qing. Under Master Ma’s training, Mr. Hu has learned over thirty forms of Tai Chi Praying Mantis, Plum Blossom Praying Mantis, and Six Harmonies Praying Mantis. Mr. Hu also focused his training on Six Harmonies’ ninety-three combat applications.
In 1966, Master Ma introduced Mr. Hu to Master Pu En Fu, who was regarded as the expert in Shuai Chiao or Chinese Wrestling and grappling. During his training Hu Xi Lin would unlock many of the hidden grappling techniques of Plum Blossom and Six Harmonies styles of Northern Praying Mantis. Just like his Masters, Mr. Hu would discover the genius of combining the grappling arts with the striking arts.
After decades of training, Mr. Hu has proven to the older generations that he has successfully synthesized Praying Mantis Boxing with Chinese wrestling and formed a unique style of fighting theory.
In recent years, Mr. Hu has often travelled to many cities in Canada and the United States holding seminars demonstrating the theories of Praying Mantis Boxing.
